Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted? Less. Real life was pretty tumultuous, and I ended up with a lot less free time to write and get into new fandoms.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2007? I don't know how I ended up writing two "Labyrinth" stories. And I only have a passing familiarity with "Darker than Black." I'm honestly surprised I didn't write more for "Avatar," which was the fandom I was really gung-ho about in January.
What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest? I'm going to say "Sweetest Tongue and Sharpest Tooth," because it was so easy to write and felt so appropriate for those characters. It was a self-destructive facet of the Anemone/Dominic relationship I knew was there, but I'd never seen approached by the fandom before.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them? Well this was the year of the long, plotty stories that I had wanted to write last year. Honestly, they're a lot harder to do, because you have to sustain the creative momentum over a longer period of time. I had a lot of starts and stops with multiple fics, and I found I couldn't schedule my writing as well.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year? Just have fun again.
From my past year of writing, what was...
Best Story: "In Service of the New God." One of those prompts where I couldn't really see the pairing, but I kept working at it, and got from point "unlikely" to point "well, of course," in what felt like a very natural progression.
Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe: I don't know. Nothing really stands out this year.
Most Fun and Most Sexy and Story with a Single Sexy Moment: "Novelties." Because Schuldig was really asking for it.
Holy crap, that's wrong: Oh, the Naruto one definitely. I squicked myself out again. Gah.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: I actually felt a little bad for Muraki at the end of "Better the Devil You Know." That's never happened before.
Hardest to Write and Biggest disappointment: My last Livelongnmarry fic, for the eternally patient Veleda K, is still nowhere near finished. But it will be. Promise.
Biggest surprise: Did I *really* slash Jareth the Goblin King and the "Gargoyles" version of Puck? I'm kinda scared to go confirm that.
A story I want remembered: I dunno. You pick. :)YY
